is a unique travel company specializing in the design of highly personalised expeditions to some of the world’s natural hotspots.

We plan customized authentic naturalist experiences for those in search of fulfilment, knowledge, and lifelong memories to destinations in Africa and South America including South Africa, Botswana, Peru, the Galapagos Islands, Mozambique and Madagascar.

There are no packages or set itineraries at Anderson Expeditions but rather a process whereby we base our destination decisions on the particular needs and specific interests of our clients. Spectacular surroundings, extreme comfort and personalised service determine our choice of lodges and hotels which guarantee journeys of a lifetime.

The majority of Expeditions are led by the most highly qualified and experienced naturalist guides available in Africa and South America.

The Founder

Richard Anderson, the founder of Anderson Expeditions has first hand experience of the eco-tourism and travel industry in both Africa and South America.

Richard was trained and subsequently guided in the Kruger National Park and in Northern Zululand in South Africa where his naturalist passions, including animal behaviour and birdwatching were developed whilst guiding guests at CC Africa’s Phinda and Londolozi lodges. He also spent time leading Leopard research safaris and as a specialist private guide on reserves bordering the Kruger Park.

An exploration of South Americas most diverse and rich natural areas followed with time spent in the planets largest wetland - the Pantanal, and in the Amazon and Mata Atlantica rainforests of Brazil, the Alto Plano of the Andes mountains, in the incredible cloud forests of Bolivia and Peru and in the desolate and otherworldly Patagonia in Argentina and Chile.

Richard was then employed by Inkaterra in Peru to head up their guiding and guest experience arm at their lodges in Tambopata in the Amazon rainforest, in the cloud forested area surrounding the Machu Picchu citadel and in the high Andes in Cusco.

Currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Richard designs expeditions for his group of clients and explores unique and exciting destinations to add to the Anderson Expeditions portfolio.
