Every lodge or camp is personally selected by one of the Anderson Expeditions team for its location, access to wilderness areas, sustainable operating practices, quality of service, atmosphere and all-round experience.
Lodges provide a wide range of activities allowing you to explore the dramatic surrounds of the area you are in – game drives, bush walks, boating, canoeing, trekking, horse riding, hot-air ballooning, helicopter flights etc. Complimenting the adventure, the lodges provide down time where extreme comfort, quality service and cuisine compliment facilities such as private plunge pools, spa’s, star viewing decks and waterhole hides.
Tented camps are the quintessential safari base from which to explore Africa’s wildlife areas. Most itineraries will include tented camps to provide an authentic and classic experience. We also love to use mobile tented camps which adjust their location based on seasons and animal movements (i.e. for the Great Migration) so you’re always in the perfect spot from which to explore the surroundings and wildlife. These simple but charming camps guarantee privacy, star-filled skies, fireside drinks and the potential for calling lions or feeding elephants on the other side of your tent!
Many of our adventure based expeditions – walking, tracking and canoeing safaris – are based out of trails camps. Individual safari dome tents are centred around a mess area including a bar and fire pit for shared stories after a full day exploring the bush. Fly-camps are easily transported and very simple, and normally accessed only by foot. Nights under a mosquito net on the Makgadikgadi pans or on a koppie under mount Kilimanjaro are guaranteed expedition highlights.
Charter aircraft provide an efficient solution to access remote locations in a private and comfortable manner. Anderson Expeditions has access to a range of aircraft throughout Africa however our preference is for Pilatus PC-12 and King Air 200 airplanes.
Helicopter safaris are a unique way of experiencing otherwise difficult to access locations. Typically we use a Bell 407 or Eurocopter AS350 piloted by highly experienced pilots. The pilots and one of our private guides lead helicopter safaris into remote regions of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
