Lucien Beaumont was born and raised on a boutique wine farm, Beaumont Family Wines, in the Overberg region of South Africa’s Western Cape.
From a young age, Lucien explored and travelled around Africa with his family on adventurous camping trips to remote parts such as Botswana’s Okavango Delta and the deserts of Namibia where he developed a deep love for the African landscape and wildlife within.
After school, Lucien trained as a Cordon Bleu chef and went on to work at one of South Africa’s premier luxury private game lodges in the greater Kruger National Park. After working as a chef, Lucien went on to become a senior guide at Londolozi Game Reserve, where he guided for 8 years, following his passion for finding and photographing Africa’s vast variety of wildlife. Lucien is now established as a specialist private guide. From his base in the Western Cape, Lucien brings his knowledge of food, wine and nature and creates unique experiences on his families wine farm. He is passionate about adventure tourism and leads mountain biking, hiking, surfing and stand-up-paddle boarding trips across the mountains, lakes and ocean surrounding the Western Cape.
As an experienced safari guide, Lucien also guides specialist photographic and family safari’s in some of Africa’s big five national parks and private game reserves. On a specialist safari, Lucien will share his knowledge of wildlife photography, coaching you to be able to take amazing photographs of the landscape, wildlife and birds. He will interpret a wide variety of the unique ecosystems, plant, bird and mammal life that stretches across Southern Africa.
Lucien offers photographic advice, knowledge of African culture, history and politics, and takes away all the stress involved in travel arrangements.
On a more personal note, Lucien is a father to little Charlie and a husband to Nadia, when not expertly guiding folks across Africa, he can be found on his family wine farm in the lesser known agricultural hamlet of Botriver in the Western Cape of South Africa. When home on the farm Lucien keeps himself busy by planning his upcoming safari trips, hiking in the surrounding mountains, surfing his local break as often as possible and taking Charlie to school. Lucien is a father, surfer, photographer, professional chef (yes, fully trained in the kitchen), enjoyer of a decent glass of wine as much as a quality beer, goes by the nickname of “Goose” and we consider him to be one of the finest specialist guides out there. We are enormously privileged to have him on our books and his explorations and you can keep up to speed with all his travels and life adventures on his Instagram feed here.
