Azura Quilalea is the ultimate African island experience. Part of of the Quirimbas archipelago, Quilalea is set in the beautiful tropical paradise of northern Mozambique, just south of the border with Tanzania. Quilalea sits smack bang in the middle of a fully protected marine sanctuary, meaning you can literally step off the deck of one of only nine villas on the island, and start snorkelling straight away. On our recent trip there we had daily sea turtle viewing from our villa, with cocktail in hand.
The cliff-top Villa Quilalea offers the most astounding accommodation for a couple in the whole archipelago, with a private plunge pool, feature bathroom and dressing room, an outdoor shower, and its own separate sitting/dining area. The activities are numerous – including exploring the 35 hectare island on foot, with its statuesque baobab groves and 4 idyllic beaches, diving, fishing, snorkelling, kayaking and dhow sailing. The cuisine is focused around the natural produce available locally and the brilliant staff make every effort to mix up your dining locations from beach to cliff top.
Azura Quilalea is a dream couples destination but caters equally well for families or small groups of friends looking for an island getaway or as the perfect compliment to a safari.
