Quad Biking Adventure Across Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
There are safari’s, adventures and journeys, and then there are expeditions!
Imagine gliding towards an endless white horizon, feeling the thrill of opening the throttle on your quad bike as you cross one of the largest salt pans on Earth. For four days, you will get to experience one of Africa’s most remarkable desert adventures.
Your expedition starts at the iconic Jack’s Camp. Nestled on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans, your experience will include walking with meerkats, meeting San Bushmen and learning their ancient survival skills, horse riding across the pans and evenings filled with desert sunsets.
Then it’s expedition time as you wrap a traditional kikoi around your head, fire up your quad bike and over the next two days traverse approximately 450 kilometres across the vast Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.
No roads, no traffic, no crowds, just endless horizons, shimmering mirages and the exhilarating freedom of Africa’s great open spaces.
The Lost Island of Baobabs is your mobile camp base for the next two nights. As evening falls, gather around the fire and enjoy dinner beneath the ancient baobab trees. Your cosy swag mattresses will be laid out on the pans and you’ll drift off to sleep beneath a glittering sky unlike any you’ve seen before.
Your quad bikes (and brilliant guide team) will take you all the way to the magnificent Kubu Island. Kubu is adorned with enormous ancient baobabs, these incredible giants, their trunks twisted by centuries of wind and weather, stand like silent guardians over one of Botswana’s most photogenic landscapes.
After your unforgettable experience crossing the pans, you will return to Jack’s Camp for one final evening of well-earned indulgence.
This expedition is designed for travelers seeking adventure, spectacular scenery and skies, and complete isolation in a wild and remote wilderness.
If you’re a group of friends or a family looking for a special, intimate and fun expedition far from the tourist circuit, this is it!
